Dr. Kun Li works at the intersection of high-performance computing (HPC) and artificial intelligence (AI). His research has been published in leading international venues, including SC, PPoPP, ATC, ASPLOS, PLDI, ICS, ISC, TACO, and TPDS. His work has been recognized by distinctions such as Best Paper Award at PPoPP’24, SC’25 Best Student Paper Award Finalist, SC’25 Reproducibility Challenge Finalist, and ACM Showcase (2026) selection. He has also received numerous honors, including the CCF Outstanding Doctoral Dissertation Award, ACM SIGHPC China Outstanding Doctoral Dissertation Award, CCF HPC Youth Talent Award, and ACM SIGHPC China Rising Star Award.

He serves as Program Committee for PPoPP 2026 (Distinguished Reviewer & Best Paper selection committee), ISC 2026, SC 2026, ASPLOS 2027, and a keynote speaker at CCF HPC China 2024, ACM ChinaSC 2025, as an Executive Committee Member of the CCF Technical Committee on High-Performance Computing and Computer Architecture.

Research Vision: Scalable Physical World Models

Core Question: How can we build world models that capture physical dynamics, support long-horizon evolution, and scale from microscopic scientific processes to macroscopic embodied systems?

Two Frontiers:
(1) Macro World Models for embodied intelligence in real-world physical environments;
(2) Micro World Models for AI for Science, spanning quantum chemistry, molecular dynamics, and kinetic simulation.
